Years after the fall of the Miami FC (USL) and the Miami Fusion (MLS), Roberto Sacca took it upon himself to a sustainable and successful Miami based soccer club. Starting from scratch and with great passion, Sacca set forth in accomplishing his grand vision of a new soccer team that would harness its talent and fandom form the very heart of the community, uniting players and fans from the ground up. After Having been crowned the “Champion of Florida” for three times in a row (2014, 2015, 2016), the team has gained great recognition in both USA and around the world through his leadership.
Miami United FC has fostered local talent as well as signed the likes of Brazilian international Adriano and Honduran legend Julio Cesar “Rambo” De Leon. The club has also gone international with friendly competitionsm, held in Italy and Spain against clubs such as Calcio Catania and Brescia Calcio, and in preseason friendlies with the Argentinian Giants of San Lorenzo (2016), Boca Junior, Racing, River Plate (2018), the Uruguayan champs Penarol (2019), the Hondurans clubs Motagua (2019) and Olímpia (2022), Mexican Club Pachuca ( 2022) and Ecuadorian club Barcelona SC (2023).
The club was able to compete in the very prestigious U.S. Open Cup for six times in a decade, reaching the fourth round in the 2018 edition (first time for an NPSL Club), facing off Orlando City, an MLS team, entering the best 24 teams in the United States. Last November 19th, after winning four rounds, the club qualified for the 7th time for the Upcoming U.S. Open Cup edition, which will be played in March 2024.
In addition to the club’s success on the field, we continue to focus and care for our community. MUFC has for years been a proud and active member of Autism Soccer, a non-profit organization focused on providing healthy recreation and developmental growth for autistic youth in the Miami area, through the various fundamentals of soccer.
