Miami United FC Weekend Recap: First Place Race Heads to Final Day as Reserve team Remain Top and U23 Match Is Suspended

Miami, Florida – Miami United FC earned a 1-1 draw against Elevate Soccer Project Miami on Sunday evening in UPSL Matchday 12, a result that leaves the race for first place wide open heading into the final match of the regular season.

While the result was disappointing for a team that entered the match on a ten-game winning streak, Miami United remains tied at the top of the UPSL Florida South Division standings with Florida Badgers FC on 31 points.

With one regular-season game remaining, the division title race remains alive and will be decided on the final weekend of the season.

First Team: A Frustrating Draw

Miami United started the match well and took a deserved lead in the 25th minute.

Goal:

Juan Manuel Collazo (25')

Assist:

Guido Cacciabue

Despite controlling large portions of the first half and creating opportunities to extend the lead, Miami United was unable to find a second goal.

Credit must be given to Elevate Soccer Project, a young, energetic, and technically gifted team that competed with intensity throughout the match.

The decisive moment came in the second half when Miami United was punished on a counterattack, allowing Elevate to equalize in the 55th minute.

It was not Miami United's best performance of the season, and the players and coaching staff left the field disappointed knowing that three points would have placed the team in an even stronger position heading into the final week.

The draw means Miami United and Florida Badgers FC are now tied on 31 points with one match remaining in the regular season.

Miami United has done an excellent job closing the gap after an outstanding second half of the season, but the race for first place remains extremely tight. Because Florida Badgers currently holds the head-to-head advantage, Miami United will need a strong result against Inter Miami Academy while also hoping for favorable results elsewhere on the final day.

Regardless of the final standings, Miami United has already established itself as one of the strongest and most consistent teams in the division and will enter the playoffs among the league's most in-form sides.

Despite the interruption, the coaching staff saw positive moments from the group, which continues to grow and develop throughout the season.

Reserve Team Remains Top and Unbeaten

• Unbeaten this season

The squad has been one of the most consistent teams in the league and continues to play an important role within the Miami United player development pathway, creating opportunities for players to progress toward the First Team.
